Just on style points alone, I don’t see the Germans loading people on trains. They’ve tried that and it didn’t end so well.

I think you've hit on a key point here. Today's Germans are very sensitive of their Nazi past. So they make destructive choices, just to distance themselves from hints of that past.

And thereby guarantee that the Nazi like elements will have to rise up.

Well, I was stationed in West Germany for more than 2 years, and that sensitivity was pretty hard to see, if it existed at all. The people who might have been sensitive to it, did not want to discuss it, and those who were not sensitive to it were quite vocal about that which is why there were many places and areas that were on the "no go" list for Americans.

This was in 1970-72
