It is not the wall that matters but the penalty for crossing the wall that is what matters. Currently there is a reward for crossing the wall can any one guess why people cross the wall? I thought you could.
The number of criminal aliens in federal prisons in fiscal year 2010 was about 55,000, and the number of SCAAP criminal alien incarcerations in state prison systems and local jails was about 296,000 in fiscal year 2009 (the most recent data available), and the majority were from Mexico.
Based on our random sample, GAO estimates that the criminal aliens had an average of 7 arrests, 65 percent were arrested at least once for an immigration offense, and about 50 percent were arrested at least once for a drug offense. Immigration, drugs, and traffic violations accounted for about 50 percent of arrest offenses. About 90 percent of the criminal aliens sentenced in federal court in fiscal year 2009 (the most recently available data) were convicted of immigration and drug-related offenses. About 40 percent of individuals convicted as a result of DOJ terrorism-related investigations were aliens.
25,000 were charged with homicide.
This has been going on my whole life and I am 75 but now it is Rick Perrys fault?
When you reward something, you get more of it. Texas has an illegal alien population of 1.8 million. The Fiscal Burden of Illegal Immigration on Texans (2014)
After a brief hiatus that coincided with the worst of the economic recession, Texass illegal alien population is on the rise again. There are about 1,810,000 illegal aliens residing in Texas 70,000 more than resided in the state in 2010 when we estimated the fiscal burden at nearly $8.9 billion annually.
In 2013, illegal immigration cost Texas taxpayers about $12.1 billion annually. That amounts to more than $1,197 for every Texas household headed by a native-born or naturalized U.S. citizen. The taxes paid by illegal aliens estimated at $1.27 billion per year do not come close to paying for those outlays, but we include an estimate of revenue from sales taxes, property taxes, alcohol taxes, and cigarette taxes.
What about Arizona,New Mexico and California? What have those governors done?
The blame is on the US for not enforcing our borders both north and south.
I am sorry to hear that. I am not blaming it all on Rick Perry. He is just doing what he deems is politically expedient. Our political and corporate elites care more about the rights of lawbreakers than they do the safety and security of their fellow citizens. It is all about money and power.

Under the Constitution, the federal government is responsible. I will say that AZ has been a leader in the fight against illegal aliens.
Illegal aliens have no right to be in the country. They certainly don’t have any right to special breaks on education that Texas taxpayers like me have to pay for. It may not be all Perry’s fault that they came but he certainly did help to turn on the magnet and put out a welcome mat, didn’t he? He also said that if I disagree with him, I have no heart. I am tired of having illegals here and I am tired of their CoC crony enablers like Rick Perry insult me.
The corrupt Mexican government is the main problem. How does our federal government deal with that?
I like Rick Perry but he is not motivated to secure the border. Not the way we all want it secured.
Now that's funny, and true...
Secure the border and track and deport visa overstays. Make e-verify mandatory. Follow the Trump immigration position paper.
Going to be comical seeing that ‘Israeli wall’ thru downtown Laredo...
What about those who overstay their visas?
A wall, however tall and long won’t deal with that aspect of illegal immigration.
During my long lifetime there has not been enough “interior enforcement,” to discourage illegal immigrants and employers.
And none of the candidates talk about it.
They will be a real asset to Mexico...
One of the problems with Rick’s ‘solution’, is that it’s not permanent. Additional border personnel can always be slashed when another subversive like Obama becomes President. A wall is permanent.
Run and Done.
Might be good read, Bump
Who’s saying we can’t build a wall?
“Rick Perry: Border Wall Nothing More Than Rhetoric”
Wow, the Trump Effect has smoked out yet another “Can’t Do” GOPe spineless squish!
BTW, the GOPe strategy is becoming pretty obvious: practically none of the 16 dwarfs have a snowball’s chance in hell of being nominated based on their own merits, so their sole job assignment from the GOPe is to Get Trump! as long as the kommie media continues to give them a national platform for spouting anti-Trumpisms.
