Wouldn’t it be easier for the civilized world to work with Assad, clean the trash out of Syria and northern Iraq, and make those areas safe for civilization? I don’t see how depopulating those areas and leaving them to ISIS is a good idea.

My thoughts exactly. In the ancient past many nations and empires have collapsed because of massive migration of outsiders into a nation.
Back about 1987 while I was attending college, I use to go to the library and read news magazines. Times have certainly changed.
I remember interviews of people who were trying to predict the future.
They predicted massive waves of immigrants hitting Europe and the United States, in part prompted by the onslaught of terrorism coming from the Middle East as the new type of warfare. Of course, Hillary’s war of destruction of Libya got most of this latest wave started.
Why should our boys fight for those who refuse to fight for themselves.

Which is precisely why Muslim nations have no interest in helping their brethren, they WANT them to go to the lands of the Infidels and to convert them. Making them comfy in other Muslim countries won’t accomplish that.
