Nobody in the Middle East “shares power.” Putin has to be laughing - whoever takes over in Syria now is going to owe his very existence to the Russian military.

So who will Putin pull into his coalition?
Since NATO and Europe are pwned by obama
And the Saudis and Turks want secular Assad gone and an Islamist Syria

Iran?
Pakistan?
Eastern Europe?
China?

ThIs should be interesting.

I have no clue - but the US is in this situation because it used the uprising to get rid of Assad’s regime - not a bad idea - but they failed in their execution. In so doing the USA can’t go back on it’s “holier than though” proclamations issued by blowhard Kerry because it’s like swallowing crow and pride at the same time. So this has allowed to fester and now Putin, a weak player - but strong enough to tip the balance - swoops in (again!) and saves the day.

The Germans are running NATO now. Obama’s only interest in NATO is weakening it.

There should have been no option to “ get rid of” Assad’s regime without knowing what would happen the next day

Look what happened in Libya

I really can’t figure out Valerie Jarrett’s visceral hatred of Assad because he was not the worst option for Syria, Israel, or the U.S. and he is, or was, a longtime useful tool of Iran

Oh sure his Ol man stuck a thumb in the eye of the Saudis for years
But Assad the younger is a western educated physician and Pelosi wet her pants over the chance to go meet him in defiance of Bush sanctions

When Colin Powell testified prior to invading Iraq that if you break it, you own it....he should have been talking to Obama.

Obama has broken more nations than any US President and has ZERO interest in taking responsibility.

The Europeans are screaming with hatred over the refugee invasion and placing the blame squarely on the shoulders of the United States.

I’m happy because most Europeans hated Bush, but loved Obama.

We shall have to disagree on who is running NATO

Now, the banks and their investments ... Perhaps

"We really want to create some kind of an international coalition to fight terrorism and extremism," Putin told journalists

Really??

I do believe obama with Merkel et al is among the global cabal that see NATO as the military arm of the IMF and World Bank

Assad has done much to aid ISIS themselves: http://www.businessinsider.com/why-assads-air-force-is-now-a-force-multiplier-for-isis-2015-6

Many Russians have been fighting in ISIS.

Iranians are not ISIS. All Muslims are bad but the Shia jihadis Muslims seem to be less insane and more tolerant of Christians than the Sunni jihadis.

Do we still not get the difference between Sunni and Shia after all this time? Arab vs Persian?

Those “Russians” are Chechen exiles and thus enemies of Russia. And Assad pitting one rebel group against another is smart. Assad made a deal with the Kurds also, same as us.

France and the UK were the most eager to get into a war in Syria. Probably to have a secure gas and oil pipeline bypassing Russia. Germany stayed neutral so it is up to France and the UK to take in the victims of their own failed foreign policy. Which sucks because it will change the demographics of both for the worse.

Assad stirred up this whole mess and his family killed 300 Marines in Beirut.
