Then you should know more than anyone that there is no such thing as a conservative democrat. Explain how that works. You are against gay marriage and abortion yet you belong to a party that supports both? Not only does she belong to the party but she ran for office under that party.
As she is an elected official she has put herself out there to be criticized for her political beliefs & her actions. There are consequences. I am criticizing her political beliefs and asking a legitimate question of her. How can she object to something that her chosen political party (whom she represents as an elected official) believes and has forwarded? I believe she bears some responsibility for that.
Now if I wanted to make it personal I would have brought up her personal life which I did not. She claims she has been born again. So she has denounced Satan and all his ways. Has she also denounced the democrat party?
Perhaps if I heard her do so and take some responsibility for being a part of what has brought us to this point I’d have more sympathy for her.
IMO she should have resigned if she truly believes that she cannot perform her elected duties as they go against her religious beliefs. She also should have resigned because her religious beliefs did not allow her to represent the people who elected her as a democrat as their parties actions and beliefs should also offend her Christian sensibilities.
FR used to be a conservative site. No longer. The conservatives are called names if they don’t jump on the circus bandwagon. Reason has gone out the window around here. If you are part of the Trump cult or play the “I’m a Christian” card you are given a pass for anything you say or do. People will twist themselves into pretzels to justify.
I’m a Christian too but I don’t use it as a religion of convenience when it suits me. I’m imperfect, I sin, I’m sometimes wrong and I often fall short of what the Lord expects from me. Just like everyone else. But I also am not running for political office and presenting myself as a Christian while supporting a political party who is anti-Christian. IMO this woman, if she is still a member of the democrat party and still wants to keep her job as a democrat is trying to have her cake and eat it too.She has taken a very public action as a public elected official. She will thus have much scrunity, criticism and judgment. It comes with the job that she wanted.
If you are a Christian you are a Christian in every part of your life. Your personal life, your public life and your political life. Your beliefs cannot be bought nor sold, are not subject to convenience and are not interchangeable when you want a nice-paying government job with a good pension and benefits.
A Christian should be firm in their beliefs from the tips of their toes to the top of their heads. Inside and outside. I do not believe that the judge made the right decision here. But this problem didn’t start with the judge. Blame for this is a tangled web of wrong politics from the top on down in all the branches of government and the voting public as well. That goes for political parties and their candidates. That goes for the people who vote for them. They ALL bear moral responsibility. The Christian Bakery that lost it’s business or the Christian wedding photographers that lost their livelihoods are all victims of the democrat voters. They aren’t in jail, yet and won’t garner as much public attention. When they started their businesses I’m sure they didn’t expect that they would be forced to bake a gay wedding cake or lose their business either. None of it is right.
This woman, a democrat who probably accept monetary support from the party as well as voters has affiliated herself and probably voted for other democrats. I find the situation she is in deplorable but I also believe that she bears some responsiblity here for what has happened. Until I hear her accept that and denounce what the party stands for I do not have much sympathy for her. You reap what you sow.
Unfortunately, because of her political beliefs and support of the democrat party abortion and immorality have become commonplace in our society. Innocents will pay the price.
I fully support her belief that gay marriage is wrong. But I cannot support her past actions and I have some reservations about how deep her claimed beliefs really go.
When the republican party started to go astray and I no longer believed that they morally represented me I left the party and became an independent. Putting myself in her shoes, I could not run for office as a democrat claiming to be against gay marriage. That’s my opinion, it doesn’t match the group think here. If that makes me judgmental, idiotic, uniformed, stupid or whatever so be it.
Just like Donald Trump. I just call ‘em like I seem ‘em :)
Granny, I will support a Democrat like her with her Christian courage any day of the week over the godless corrupt leaders of the Republican party. Bunch of drunken perverted thieves who throw around the name of Jesus when trying to raise money from Evangelical voters.
