As of 12:20 a.m., Lake County sheriff officials said there are no suspects in custody, but a manhunt is continuing a few miles from where Fox Lake police Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz was killed.
Police said it isn’t clear yet if the situation is related to Gliniewicz’s shooting.
“There is no indication at this time these two scenes are connected at this point,” said Lake County sheriff detective Chris Covelli.
Covelli told ABC 7 Chicago that a call came in about two suspicious men in a field, which sparked the manhunt. He told her that no one was yet in custody.
Covelli said earlier officers were searching a cornfield east of Route 12 and south of Route 120 in Volo. He said officers on scene said it was a suspicious circumstances investigation.
Roads were shut down, helicopters were on the scene and police set up a perimeter.
Later police were seen entering a subdivision, with dogs and guns, in Lakemoor, in the area of Blossom and Four Seasons boulevards.
