Long before the Republican presidential candidate became a presidential candidate or a Republican, Donald Trump had a working relationship with Al Sharpton, including doing favors for the racial activist and giving him thousands in donations.

Cruz knows that the love of God is really the only thing that will stop and reverse the nonsense, is what I mean.
The classic Christian expression of the love of God is the blood of Christ.
Trump is pushing some “love our neighbor” moves, when our neighbor really is our neighbor, not some stranger who says thanks sucker and splits. That’s a step in the right direction. If we won’t respect America that we can see, how do we respect God that we can’t?
By the way, Al Sharpton told Chris Haynes on his Wednesday night show that the Weekly Standard article is bunk!
In fact, he called it “an act of desperation.”
Sharpton said he’s never received any donations from Trump.
Well, I have tried to think it through. I had hoped that Trump might just be an event that could propel Cruz into “electability”. He still may.
To further expand, let’s say we can get a President Cruz. I am certain he would start out energetic and doing his best to be faithful to the Constitution. But the whole time it would be there. Just waiting to be used. With the enemedia grinding at him and the Rats biting at him even he, I fear, would succumb to “the easier path”. Maybe at first just here or there but I suspect power is like heroin. Thankfully I have been blessed to be inexperienced in that regard.
I don’t wear rose colored glasses when it comes to US history. I’m no Howard Zinn but I suspect there has never been a time when we actually had the Republic we like to think about save perhaps our first President. Even Lincoln was no Washington. But then I suppose he couldn’t be. Undeniably, we have strayed further from it in recent decades than ever before. Like putting a locomotive back on the rails you have to bring something along that can pick it up. It probably isn’t something one person can do.
Whose door do we drag our rifles to? Good question. As a boy I had this image of a church bashing in the Gates of Hell. Like a physical building with a steeple. It just didn’t make sense. I think your question is like that in a way. We don’t need to go find Hell. As a building or as a group. It comes to us. There may be no door. I may succeed if I just stand where I am.
Another possibility is coat tails. If, as Trump joked at one of his stump appearances where he gave helicopter rides to kids, he is Batman ... well, in Cruz is quite possibly his Robin.
I think Cruz is being God-eyed here, and is willing to be humble enough not to clash harshly with Trump as champion of some important moves needed to keep America America, rather than being some no man’s land. And if God granted Trump the gifts to push the concept, Cruz is being thankful and making hay while that sun shines.
Hell trundles up its van and opens its doors up in our face, it sometimes seems.
The actual biblical metaphor would be more like the conquest of a city. The worst gates of hell in that regard are not even what other people bring to us, but in our own hearts. The devil has got us to commit treason against ourselves, on a spiritual level.
Lord, we are starting to sound like Beck!
Gotta try to get some sleep before dawn.
The man is not perfect, he was wrong on trade and wrong on the Iran deal and I have already noted that I think he is wrong on H1B. But he has not been wrong nearly so much as has Trump.
We all know that no politician is perfect, we try to come up with the least imperfect man and we leave it to Democrats to swoon over their latest Messiah. We conservatives like to think that we look at the core.
Cruz has not slept with the enemy, funded the enemy, embraced the enemy, voted for the enemy or declared himself a member of the enemy party as has Trump. At his core, Trump gives us no reason to believe that he is conservative. At his core, Cruz is far more conservative.
The argument on behalf of Trump is boiling down to: 1) he is electable and Cruz is not 2) Trump is right on immigration and Cruz is not.
1) Electability has yet to be determined; 2) immigration: I've already given the edge to Trump, but only an edge as set forth in my previous reply. There is no basis to believe that Trump will enforce immigration law and Cruz will not. There is every reason to believe that, even with the publication of his immigration paper, Trump's commitment against amnesty is not clear. He will explicitly give amnesty to "terrific" illegal immigrants that he has readmitted. What the hell does that mean?
Beck: Even the blind squirrel gets some nuts. Good night.
You’re generalizing a bit when you talk about electability.
Trump has shown an important feature in that regard. He is getting the politically unwashed to care again.
By raising the personal caring rate in America, he is doing more good than Cruz alone could.
This may yet end up being a tag team, even as a Trump led ticket.
But I don't think I am guilty of generalizing, I am actually saying it is too early to generalize. It is the Trump supporters who want to leap to the conclusion that he has the stuff to get elected in the general election.
There ya go
One vote that is so inexcusable that Cruz doesn’t even try. What thought process would lead to a vote like that?
Cos’ the gig be out now on the news, yo
Trump hired Sharpton to get a job done
And hired Jackson for da same by doing him a favor
Now what.
Yeb gonna campaign against the Revrund Sharpton?
( crickets)
I really thought better of you - perhaps I was wrong. The folks commenting at the site where you found this trash got it and so many here haven't a clue. Here's the handy links again for those that want to be useful instead of get attention no matter how deep they have to go into the slime for it...
Cruz is a gloBULList phony.
Any FReepers from Iowa on this thread? Trump is tied with Carson in IA in the latest poll. I wonder how this will play in IA, if it’s true. (Once again, Al Sharpton denied it on MSNBC last night. Said Trump never gave to his organization and that he and Trump are NOT buddies.) Any IA FReepers on here, chime in please.

Exactly!
How dare anyone think the President should have trade promotion authority, why Trump will make sure the government doesn’t do anything at all about trading with foreign countries!
oh wait.
Al Sharpton denies this on MSNBC last night. He did say that if Trump gets the nomination that he will go out and lie about their relationship in order to torpedo him. The interview is on the web if you care to watch it and get your facts straight. Thanks for the lies -
