Approx. during the late 1930s and early 1942s, the Soviet Union tried especially hard to destroy the family, along with other institutions such as religion. The results were extremely dysfunctional for individuals and society. Thus, contrary to its agenda, the government felt it had to reverse this and start supporting the family, including traditional marriage.

This Russian experiment showed the importance of traditional family and marriage, something sociologists used to emphasized - I don't know if they still do. At universities now the left not prevents expression of opinions contrary to theirs but also research finding that it doesn't like.
