I wonder if binocular guy ever stood directly in front of and to the side of a rifle when discharged. It’s really loud from that position. Especially when your not ready for it. He probably would have fell off the roof.

You'll note they are probably pretty well silhouetted on the top of the roof as well. If someone was looking to bump them off, it would be easy pickings.
