I hate to say it, but I don’t think most Blacks, most Whites or voters in the wider minority community have the capacity to make astute political decisions due to their ignorance of the American Constitutional system.
You could have just said the majority of Americans! I have an apprentice understanding of the constitution and I am dismayed to learn how difficult it is to find someone who knows MORE than I do about it. A huge percentage of the voters could not score above fifty percent on a multiple choice exam on the subject of the American constitution. A recent multiple choice exam on the subject of American history and civics did not even offer the correct answer for the question of what form of government does the constitution guarantee to the states. The answer offered which was accepted as the correct answer was “a representative democracy”. The actual correct answer is, “...a republican form of government...”. When the people writing the exam either have never read the constitution or are deliberately ignoring actual wording and making up their own answer you can’t expect average Joe to know too much about the subject. There are plenty of geniuses who will claim that “representative democracy” means the same thing but in truth the word democracy was not used except as a pejorative in the time when the constitution was written. Democracy was something to be warned against and avoided. Today it seems that the actual constitution is something to be warned against and avoided.
