Despite his problems in his own life, Joe's ideas sure raised some hackles along the way. Cockroaches don't like it when you turn on the light and expose them.

We all know of what many believed as overreach and showmanship by Joe McCarthy during the life of this committee. McCarthy was a Senator and not part of the HUAC.

Frankly, I think the taxpaying citizens, we the people, should be holding our own “Un-American Activities” trials for members of Congress and our Federal Government.
You cannot trust these people to do anything moral, ethical, honest or trustworthy. It is completely beyond them.

And the Venona papers proved McCarthy was right all along - and had to be destroyed.

The entire concept of an “un-American activity” was so utterly discredited, I doubt it will ever be looked at again.
At least until a major Blue city is hit by a nuclear explosion.

Time to resurrect 'Un-American Activities'No way. It's not possible to indict the entire Democrat party.

How many trees would have to die to process all that paperwork?

McCarthy was a Senator and not part of the HUAC. True. The chairman of HUAC was Rep. Martin Dies, a Democrat.

Very bad idea.
Think of what the Democrats will do with it when they get the chance.

Mass storage is dirt cheap these days. Ask Hildebeeste. She'll tell you all about it.

True. “UnAmerican” would be defined as not embracing homoism or denying global warming. Off with their heads!

McCarthy has long been proven right about his concerns regarding communism. There were and still are communists in America. However, he was over zealous in his Senate committee and ruined some reputations/careers that didn't need to be.
The Communist Party of the USA is a subversive organization, but they also have their right to free political speech protected by the 1st Amendment. Thankfully, no one listens to them other than other hard core statists.
Communism: State control/ownership of production/services and equal distribution to the masses. A Utopian dream until the communes find that not all work as hard, but yet get same benefits, not to mention corrupt leaders always live affluent lives;
Socialism: Privately owned production/services, but State mandated distribution to the masses, through taxation, regulations, and social programs like welfare. Another killer of human incentive.
The continuing problem is liberal/socialism which is one step away from communism and has been slowly killing our free-enterprise capitalist system that once made this Nation the envy of he World. Europe is a prime example of the failings of socialism. Think Greece, and so many others.

LOL! For the last, oh, probably, 15 years before I retired, my former employer kept pushing the paperless systems. Don’t know if they ever achieved what they were after. Some times, you gotta have the paper. Of course a lot of folks adhered to the paperless routine, but, most printed out a hard copy of their stuff anyway to CYA.
