From the linked article:In 1975, the state of Alaska officially designated the mountain as Denali, and has since been pressing the federal government to do the same.

It does not see unreasonable that the federal government should use the same name that the state uses.

This really does not seem like an issue that warrants a high level of anger.

So the Amerindian special interest groups were able to get to the Alaskan politicians before they got to the national politicians. Still not a good reason to change the name.

Only two presidents were assassinated in the 20th century, McKinley and Kennedy. Is this a sign that we are now trying to forget them and disrespect them for no good reason?

I have to say I disagree. It's not pro-Indian. It's anti-American. I don't know what Alaska calls it. In this context, I also don't care. What is significant is what it means, now.
