td’s Carry Lecture

Some here think they can carry a Desert Eagle in an external chest holster like it’s wearing a bow tie.

News flash, pistoleros: Open carry scares people.

I remember a gun writer/LEO who gave a demonstration, walking on stage in a suit. No one noticed anything unusual.
He proceeded to unlimber from his person a half dozen pistols, ranging from a .45 to .40, a .357, a .38 to .32 and .22.

This time of year I can and do always carry a Springfield XDS .45 in a De Santis pocket holster, front pocket, and two mags in left pocket—in my corduroy shorts (practically lederhosen) held up with Perry belt suspenders.
And a Glock 19 or Ruger SR9, with extra mag, in a belt pack.
A minute after finishing, I forget they’re there and if anyone notices, I’ve never had any indication.
Who wants some lefty drama queen screaming like Ned Flanders because he sees your piece?

It’s not you, SES1066. I saw a guy the other day in civilian clothes with a Glock, open carry on his hip and I did a double-take.
As far as I’m concerned, at least in my area it’s like wearing a too-tight Speedo to the pool, but more alarming.

Just because you can do something doesn’t necessarily mean you should ... with all objections as if stated to the resident `Earps’.

I OC all of the time and rarely do people even notice. Are you speaking from your personal experience or merely spouting off talking points against OC?

Agreed. I've noticed that the open-carries are often people that seem to be trying to stir things up and a bit too in-your-face about things. I don't see the need for attention. I expect to see open carry if I go into a gun shop, but does someone really need one at Wal-Mart?

I prefer keeping it simple as no one needs to know I am carrying. So far, the only comments have come from my boys spotting mine and patting me down to figure out what was there or since to see if I am carrying it. My wife never spotted it without their observation first. She's not happy. The boys have taken to pointing out people carrying concealed when we go places, most I never would have spotted.
