I'm the son of a cop and have met many police officers. I don't know about where you're at, but the idea that these people are all or mostly drug addicts is silly. And considering how hard it is to even become a cop these days (you can go look at Cop forums and hear stories about people applying here and there and failing to get in each time despite having nearly perfect backgrounds), I highly doubt your claims of mass corruption.
If what you say is true, then cop violence on individuals should be happening daily and everywhere.
It isn't.
Go look at lawsuits now hitting small towns throughout the US and ask them how their legal insurance costs are going.
Or from guys like Freddy Gray who pummel themselves in order to create law suits. Luckily he pummeled himself a little too hard and saved Baltimore or where ever some money.
If you dig into regional news from this weekend....someone wrote up a piece on two towns in the northeast that had to pay out $60k on one guy and $200k on a second guy...both were bad cop episodes. No one says much over the deductible for each town but it’s bound to be a minimum of half-a-million...so this cash comes straight out of the city’s pot of money. My guess is that most towns won’t come up in the open press and admit they had to pay people off and it’s strictly upon the press to dig into court action or city hall rumors to find out that people got paid off.
The sad fact is that they will all come up and say new bond episodes or new property taxes will be necessary....never letting the public know that they’ve paid out cash for bad-cops.
You only get to know....what they want you to know, or they accidentally admit to.
