A New York Magazine writer and author of the 2014 book about Fox News CEO Roger Ailes, "The Loudest Voice in the Room," said in a recent televised interview the cable station's biggest star, Megyn Kelly, may not be re-engaging in public disputes with presidential hopeful Donald Trump because she doesn't want to hurt her chances to move to a more mainstream network, like CNN.
Kelly, on the heels of widespread criticism of her debate night questioning of Trump after which the billionaire businessman called her a "bimbo" in a tweet went on what she and Fox officials said was a long-planned vacation. Trump, on the other hand, claimed her vacation was due to the fireworks she faced from her presidential debate questions about his previous treatment of women. As soon as she returned, he retweeted messages from Twitter posters that once again, called her a "bimbo." Various Fox personalities called Trump wrong for reigniting the dispute with Kelly, while Ailes came out and called for the presidential contender to apologize.
Kelly, meanwhile, took the high road and didn't directly respond to Trump's latest attacks. And Newsmax TV host Steve Malzberg wanted author Gabriel Sherman to explain why. "I think she, up until this point, was kind of the fastest rising star at Fox," Sherman said. "She was really becoming the face of the network. ... I don't think she wants to get down in the weeds and in the gutter...

She’s a lawyer for Gods sake...
I love that description.
More mainstream.
Yet, on Fox, she gets more viewers the CNN, CNNHLN, and MSNBC combined.
If mainstream is defined as what the plurality are doing, then FNC is the embodiment of mainstream.
I’d say she’d be perfect for “Morning Joe” but Mika would never allow it.
Replace her with Sarah Palin and watch the ratings increase tremendously.
Does anybody remember Alisyn Camerota? She did good work at Fox for a lot of years and jumped to CNN.
She may as well have died. Nobody talks about her. I’m sure she’s paying the bills, but its the equivalent of taking on the features beat at a station in Buffalo, NY.
Replace her with Sarah Palin and watch the ratings increase tremendously.
looks like she’s leaning over to fart.
Oops. Upgraded to W10 and have been having hiccups with my system. Sorry.
.Put Judge Jeanine Pirro in her spot.
OR Jesse Watters!
Agreed - she’d probably feel right at home at MSNBC. I was LOL-ing at the author’s clearly biased reference to CNN as a “more mainstream network”.
MOVE! Then we will no longer have to suffer your skanky self.
Signing her would be like when the Mets signed George Foster.
Overpaid, and her best years are behind her.
“She won’t leave as long as she is making money for her pimp Fox Network.”
She’s got my money. I just like to turn the sound off and watch.
If she ducking Trump, then why would some other network want to hire her? I think Ailes is trying get her out from FOX gracefully.
Trump should let her and FOX spin out there as long as possible. He week he’ll pick up the democrat votes by doing this.
For the first time in years and years, I’m glancing over to CNN and MSNBC when they’re covering Trump.
Have her ratings collapsed? Drudge used to post those from time to time to show how CNN had completely disemboweled themselves.
Good riddance.
She’s been smoked out.
She decided to be part of the debate not host it.. much like candy crawly..
At which point she became a liability not an asset to the idea of fair and balanced.
