I led two Chaparral platoons back in the 70s. I've been out of the Army so long, the battalion I served in was deactivated at least 15 years ago.

Perhaps the Army is re-discovering the need for air defense, eventhough ISIS doesn’t have an air force, yet.

Nothing new here.
I was one of the original instructors who taught the Chaparral Missile System at Ft. Bliss from 1968-1970.
Also developed the lesson plans, tests, etc.
One of my associates, whom I assisted, taught the Redeye shoulder-fired IR missile system.
Lots of good memories.
