I have a feeling your version of free trade is more Libertarian than Conservative. Conservatives believe in limited government not anarchy. As well, Conservatives believe Government is tasked with protecting American interests.
Would the unlimited free trade you seem to want include selling American uranium mines to foreign entities? What about selling weapons technology? Is all of America for sale. or are there limits? Is an independent productive and thriving economy a national security interest? To who and how dependent should America be to foreign countries for how much of its raw material or manufactured needs?
This came out over a half-century ago. Communistic free trade, designed for the benefit of communism only. Cant say we havent been warned.
