Although Donald Trump has suggested he would use his vast wealth to self-fund his campaign, freeing him from the control of special interests, the Republican frontrunner said Sunday he was open to major campaign donations.
"We have a lot of small contributors. I would even take big contributors, as long as they don't expect anything, because the only people that can expect something from me is going to be the people that want to see our country be great again," Trump said on CBS's "Face the Nation."
"I actually like the idea of investing in a campaign, but it has to be no strings attached," the real estate mogul said. "I turned down $5 million last week from a very important lobbyist because there were total strings attached to it."
Trump attended a fundraiser for his Make America Great Again political action committee in July, according to a report by Politico.
Trump said the donors who gave to his PAC at the New York event were making a "moral investment" in his candidacy.
He has often criticized his Republican rivals particularly Jeb Bush for accepting large contributions from individuals or groups that might ask for favors down the road.
How much to you make on the back of illegals?
Trump is the decider on who is moral, and anyone who contributes to another campaign is “bought and paid for” - like Trump said he’s been for so many years.
Got it.
Yeah. He should raise some to defray the costs especially if he gets to the general election. Obama and Romney combined spent over $2 billion in 2012.
He should raise about $5 to $8 hundred million dollars if he goes all the way.
Trump does already have much the overhead covered like transportation owning 2 jets and 3 helicopters. Trump can likely get away with having less “wizards of smart” handlers and consultants than the usual politicos so he saves money here too.
It helps to read the article.
No, I would never want to be a person that plagued with insecurities.
So you want Trump do it that much more?
I would love a moral investment from Mr Trump...got an idea for an invention and the investment will pay off financially
If you are so smart why are you supporting a socialist?
LOL. I make nothing of illegals. Butt guess who does? A real estate developer. Trump employs tens of thousands of illegals. More than all the other candidates combines. That’s why Trump support amnesty. If Trump were ever in charge we’s have unlimited immigration and foreign workers.
He and his older siblings were anchor babies for his Scot mother. Of course, we don’t have valid paperwork on him.
Maybe. To me, Trump sounds like a guy who is about to make big donors an issue in this campaign.
Trump will turn this into a liability for the GOPe candidates so fast it’s going to make them breathless. He’s never going to get Hedge Fund/CoC support while he’s not bought, and right now they are backing Jeb and a cast of supporting characters. Trump can make this an issue, make the public aware of who has paid for these SuperPACs,
and then renounce that money and insist he’ll only take money from small donors. Who do you think wins in a pitch to Joe Sixpack for ten, fifty, a hundred bucks, Trump or Jeb?
At that point, if you are GOPe, what do you do? Admit you are bought and paid for and take the PAC money, or enter a true popularity contest with a guy who will have far more small donors and a vast fortune to spend on a campaign.
This is going to be interesting to watch.
Right....
I feel sorry for whoever you’re supporting. I’m sure you’re a nice guy, but it doesn’t look good for them nick. Just send them checks and don’t say anything.
1998: Widowed Homeowner Foils Trump in Atlantic City "...Mr. Trump also appeared on ''20/ 20'' last month to discuss the case. ''In life you have a thing called condemnation,'' he said on the show. ''And cities have the right to condemn for the good of a city -- whether it's New York, whether it's Los Angeles, whether it's any other place. Atlantic City is one of those cities, and it's got the right to condemn.'' He added that he thought Mrs. Coking's house was ugly...."
I’m for the United States. You seriously support that socialist wimp? It will not end well.
Trump supporters need to make sure he tells the truth - to ensure his vaunted "integrity."
Especially since Trump has now proclaimed that contributing to his campaign is a "moral investment," while everyone else is "bought and paid for."
Someone needs to stand up for this country against the media & Trump. It’s sad you just want to surrender.
