Outsourcing is not the issue with Nabisco. The USA has a Tariif on imported sugar. They also sharply limit imports basically making it twice as expensive to purchase sugar in this country.

Number one candy and Oreo ingredient is sugar

Blame Congress.

Business are in business to make money.

Every smart candy company has moved to Mexico or Canada.

Kraft moved the Lifesaver plant to Canada in 2002. Brach's moved to Mexico, Hershey's manufactures there too.

I will gladly pay more for an Oreo™ made in the USA. So what if sugar is a little more expensive.

I'm a free market, conservative American. I'm middle class and from a middle class working family. But I believe that all these big corporate names have their hands out. If not in sugar, then in something else.

Scratch beneath the surface, and you'll come up with a nice government kickback in one area or another.

“Blame Congress”

Fair enough. But who strongly influences, even strongarms, Congress time and again to make/adjust policy? Big business and the Chamber of Commerce.

They could have easily lowered or eliminated those sugar tariffs if they wanted to long ago. The question is: why was it (apparently) never a priority? Why was pushing for open borders and amnesty more important to them (including the WSJ) than corporate tax relief?
