“You said that you have a big heart, and that you’re not mean-spirited,” queried ABC reporter Tom Llamas. “Are you aware that the term ‘anchor baby,’ that’s an offensive term? People find that hurtful.” The target for Llamas’s pique, of course, was presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Yes, “hurtful” and “offensive.” Llamas joined ABC less than a year earlier, but he had already mastered the rudiments of progressive patois, the language of victimization. As ABC’s designated Hispanic avatar, he felt free to spell out the left’s newly revised semantic codes to the insufficiently ethnic Trump.
“You mean [anchor baby] is not politically correct, and yet everybody uses it?” said Trump defiantly. “You know what? Give me a different term.” Llamas had swung at the wrong piñata.
There was no good answer to Trump’s question. Said Llamas lamely, “the American-born childs [sic] of undocumented immigrants.” This suggestion was so foolishly cumbersome even his fellow reporters snickered. Trump scoffed, “You want me to use that? Okay. I’ll use the word ‘anchor baby.'” Game, set, match -- Trump.
For a half-century or more, the left has been imposing its absurd, improvised values on America. In the age of Obama, that imposition has taken on the force of law. Historians may well look back upon the Obergefell v. Hodges decision in late June as the most forward salient in the left’s slog through the institutions. Having forced gay marriage and its consequences on the nation’s dispirited conservatives, progressives thought the battlefield theirs.

I think the Donald has figured out that it is safe to blow off the illegal alien vote. Native born Latinos are not so much opposed to closing the border as Democrats and the GOPe think and the support gained from the rest of us will more than offset any heartburn Trump causes the people who won’t vote Republican anyway.

Regardless of what you think about Donald Trump, his approach to this PC crap is the correct response. Just because the left suddenly decides that a certain word or term is “offensive” or “racist” doesn’t mean they get the last word on this, and everybody should fall in line and go along with it. It’s time we stopped letting them decide what we’re allowed to say, and what we’re not allowed to say. They use this tactic whenever too many people start paying attention to a given issue, and start to question the left’s defense of their position. Examples: “Global Warming” is now “Climate Change.” “Illegal Alien’ is racist, they should be called “Undocumented Immigrants.”
You’re right, the demands that one apologize presupposes:
* that your view is somehow immoral and offensive
* that merely expressing it is a bad act, something reinforced by apologizing
And apologizing for holding a contrary view puts the person demanding an apology on a higher moral plane, destroying the ability to debate ideas on equal footing.

They don’t want Trump to disrepect the baby, but they would have no qualms about chopping it into bits and selling them by the ounce.
When you control the language you control the discussion, and the left has us on the right dancing to their tune with PC.
Just look at how they have progressively ruled out every possible name for blacks (including the term black) other than “African American”.
When we allow ourselves to be brow beaten, it only plays into their hands. I like the term “Anchor Baby”, and Trump is right, and he damn well might win because he doesn’t take that crap!
Up to just now, that was the word that everyone used. But the left has turned it into a non-PC word by association with Trump.
So what! If you refuse to be intimidated and choose your own words, they can’t do anything about it! Sticks and stones.......
True, to a point. We can try to ignore their attempts of using PC to control the conversation, but that hasn’t worked well for us in the last couple decades. That is where Rules for Radicals comes into play. Once they can label you, (racist, sexist, homophobe) they can objectify you, freeze you and make you that thing.
But that is where Trump comes back HARD, and he loves that type of engagement. The left doesn’t exactly know how to approach him yet, because what has worked for the last 30 years isn’t with this guy. And for the first time the Republicans seem to have a candidate that is showing some testosterone.
I have always said that if one or more of the parents are in the country ILLEGALLY then their DNA, Sperm, Ova or fetus and the rest of the body is in the country illegally.
Any offspring of of ILLEGAL DNA is in the country ILLEGALLY.
