The GOP Establishment would rather lose the White House than lose their positions and power.

If the GOP bans Trump, they may as well give him the nomination today. Banning him will make him so popular that he will get even higher poll numbers.
The GOP is so clueless that they are having the opposite effect of their intentions.

Breaking: Trump Likely to be Banned from Future Republican Debates I don't care one way or the other. I won't be watching any debate. What a waste of time.
That said, the GOP has to be some kind of stupid to try this as it will make Trump's star shine even brighter.

I remember back in High School Civics classes learning how our Nation had a more open elective process then say the Soviet Union. There they put up one name and the voter went to the polls and said Yes.
Then they gave us Gerald Ford, Bob Dole, John McCain, Mitt Romney, so when the process was telling us that Jeb Bush was a given, why shouldn’t we shout for joy that Donald Trump is thumbing his nose at the establishment process.
Really, John McCain was the best you could do that year. No way, Jose!

Well, we can pretty well guarantee that if they bar Trump from the debates, they will not only lose the election. They will lose their Party. Well, for decades we’ve only had one Party anyhow.
If they force Trump to go it on his own, we’ll once again actually have TWO Parties again.

He will hold a Town Meeting opposite such a debate and the audience will follow him. Have a good moderator to ask question live from Facebook and all the wind would come out of the sails of the Republican debate. Which would you watch? Especially if folks like Clint Eastwood was with Trump, maybe even the moderator. This would be a marketing opportunity for Trump...he will turn such a move into solid gold for his campaign.

Trump is saying the correct things. I don’t believe he is committed to what he says, but he knows that is what we want to hear. I sort of hope they do ban him for a simple reason, it would end them.
