Those brits and their reporting. The link references New Mexico. Guess those western states all look the same. Then they mention in the article "...site for this year's Burning Man....". Uh, what was last years site? LOL! Any way, burners need not worry, it's part of the back to nature experience and should be embraced as nature does her thing. Just don't bring 'em back to town with you.

They’re called ‘cooties’.
Hippie chicks have them.
Even when they’re old.

Isn’t this event just a Marxist orgy?

They look like Stink Bugs. They don’t bite.

Libertarians seem to like it.
Even Grover Norquist slithers out there looking for victims.

Was up at the Black Rock playa a couple weekends back and we ended up leaving early because of biting bugs. They were little tiny ones, not huge ones like in this picture but maybe they grew up?
It’s my first year living near Burning Man and I’m kind of amused right now by the signs of their arrival around town.

Uh, kinda a cross between mad max and a socialist dream where everything is FREE, FREE, FREE. Leave what you can. I believe the only thing actually for sale will be water and ice. I love the smell of patchouli oil and stale marijuana odors in the days following the “event” here in town as the celebrants plan their departure from NV.

The Brits probably confused burning man with Zozobra.

The Traditional Burning Man Solution to this problem will be applied:
1. Get stoned.
2. Remove all your clothes.
3. Stay that way for a week.
4. You will have a ball and will not even notice the insect bites.

LOL! Just wait a couple of days as they stage themselves for the trek at Grand Sierra. Then when it’s over, take a look at the rental RV lots and post burning man car wash, rv wash, school bus wash that they set up there. Maybe a de-lousing station would be appropriate as well. Pop corn and enjoy.

I’ve been warned that, since our Walmart is the closest one to BM, to stock up beforehand because there won’t be anything on the shelf for weeks...

And for once, "bugs" actually means "bugs." Those are definitely Hemiptera (true bugs). In fact, they look like stink bugs. But stink bugs don't bite. At least, I've never been bitten by one, nor have I ever heard of anyone else who has.

Different bugs in the pictures but I recognize the stink bugs, albeit greener in color than I remember. So *that’s* where they went after disappearing from Northern Va! Good riddance!

Seems like the little biting nasty critters are like sand fleas. Conspiracy theories are popping up that the BLM planted them there after being denied there million dollar housing/office/quarters for monitoring the event. Burners, just enjoy your time with nature on the playa. Just more heroic tales to tell about how you survived the ‘15 plague of sand fleas.

Yep, it appears that the cure for Stink Bugs is Japanese Beetles or June Bugs which seem to eat their eggs. At least that’s what I hope and surmise so far.
We’ll See!!
