“Turning off Latino voters ensures defeat in the general election”.

Wrong. The key for a GOP win is getting conservatives off their ass and out to the polls to vote. McCain and Romney lost because millions of conservatives stayed home instead of voting for a them.

Also, drawing away the Reagan Democrats who are turned off by their party’s extreme leftward turn.

Actually, its the Reagan-Perot democrats or working class group that is the key to the election. Hispanics are a group the GOP are going to lose anyway, but the payoff for the Rep candidate will be gaining 2 votes from the above mentioned group, for every hispanic vote they lose.

"The key for a GOP win is getting conservatives off their ass and out to the polls to vote. McCain and Romney lost because millions of conservatives stayed home instead of voting for a them."

That's part of it, but I'm skeptical the raw numbers are there to overcome the (D)ummycrats.

The absolute most important thing is that votes need to be taken from the (D)ummycrats. Mathematically each crossover vote is the same as two votes from new voters, or two (R)epublicans or two disallusioned non-voters or two of anything else. This is because in net terms a crossover vote means they are decreased by one and we are increased by one. Such a simple concept that the (R)etards cannot visualize it.

Ronaldus Maximus got 50.8% in 1980. After kickstarting the economy and kicking some military ass he received 58.8% in 1984. The "Reagan Democrats" as they were called.

Hence the dirty little secret. The GOPe is busy trying to nominate their favorite (R)epublicrat to no avail. None of them will draw a (D)ummycrat crossover. They had their chance to do that each and every election and they failed to do that each and every single time. (D)ummies don't want to vote for (D)-lite. They want (D)emocrats or something else entirely.

Trump does have cross party appeal. But can he get past the (R)epublicrat establishment? That is the issue for the next year.
