WASHINGTON--The Internal Revenue Service said identity thieves penetration of one of its computer databases was much more extensive than previously reported, with more than 300,000 taxpayer accounts potentially affected and more than 600,000 breaches attempted.

Great. Chinese hackers already have all my personal data from the Office of Personnel Management breach. Now they probably have all my tax records, too. What's next,... my "confidential" medical records?

The only reasonable expectation is that any piece of data held by the government is also known to the Chinese, the Russians, and scores - if not thousands - of cyber criminals worldwide.
Nothing is secure, and nothing can be secured, and we have the National “Security” Agency to thank for it.
