Only a 4.0, I was HOPING for a 10.0 or HIGHER!
I had just sat down for my morning meditation and prayer when suddenly.....shake and jolt!
That makes 2 on Hayward in last 2 months.
Combined with the two in Napa last year, this could get interesting in a couple years.
Didn’t feel it in Wino country.
Just a little less than a year ago, wino country had the big 6+ quake.
CNN reported a few weeks ago that someone was predicting a ‘major’ earthquake on the Hayward Fault...

Ya, I’m going back to sleep. Wake me when it’s at least 8 or higher! Besides, Arizona and Nevada have been pining for some ocean front property for awhile now.
Any damage in Piedmont? I used to live there.
I live up in the hills near Oakland Naval Hospital...about 7 miles away. Haven’t heard any reports of damage however.
Thanks. After the big quake when the Bay Bridge collapsed, a friend of mine spent a fortune having her nearly 100 year old home reinforced. Unfortunately, she has passd away since, and I have no way to find out what really has happened. I still remember Piedmont as one of my favorite places where I have lived over the years. We left in 1972.
Actually a lot of people have been predicting a major quake on the Hayward Fault, it's overdue. Traditionally happens within 20 to 30 years after a big one rips on the San Andreas nearby. Loma Prieta let go on the San Andreas fault in 1989. That was 26 years ago. One slipping, builds up stress on companion faults that interconnect to the Hayward Fault. Not a question of "if", but when it'll slip. And it will be catastrophic because lots of infrastructure is on top of the Hayward Fault, including schools, hospitals and freeways (cuts right through the U.C. Berkeley campus, traces of previous slips are visible). Contrast that with the San Andreas on the SF side that is largely under unpopulated land or water.
Still good. A very popular place buzzing with good restaurants and shops in the area, very popular and safe. My daughter would often take me there when she lived in Oakland a few years ago.
