"I came home to find out that my boys received two trophies for nothing, participation trophies! While I am very proud of my boys for everything they do and will encourage them till the day I die, these trophies will be given back until they EARN a real trophy. I'm sorry I'm not sorry for believing that everything in life should be earned and I'm not about to raise two boys to be men by making them believe that they are entitled to something just because they tried their best...cause sometimes your best is not enough, and that should drive you to want to do better...not cry and whine until somebody gives you something to shut u up and keep you happy. #harrisonfamilyvalues"

I knew I liked this guy! The man is a truck!
Oh NOOOO. Common sense? He’s probably going to be accused of child abuse.
I must add get rid of preschool & kindergarten graduation ceremonies too
Really, is there anything more disgusting than kindergarten children wearing caps and gowns?
There was a school in California once that banned Legos because they were afraid that one child’s building might be better than another’s.
I played Little League baseball as a kid. I sat the bench for the first two seasons but always knew it was because the older kids were better and had also paid their "bench dues" before they got in the game. The only "trophy" I ever got was the uniform hat that everybody got to keep for health reasons. I treasured that hat!
Good for him. Kids need to understand there is nothing wrong with losing if you give it your all ... but don’t call it winning.
He likes Ted Cruz, too! Lol, his 13 YO uncle is the most conservative member of the family. It was a thrill for him (all of us) to meet Ted at the book signing in Arlington. I think my tagline says it all.
Someone should explain this to the moms raising most of these boys and girls.
My Grandson started playing Pony league Baseball at 7 yrs, first time ever, as most of his team, didn’t take long for a bunch of parents of the losers to demand that scoring be dropped because it hurt the feelings of the losers, then they put in the four up rule, the leading team wasn’t allowed to go up by more than four runs an inning, outs or not. Now two things, if you don’t keep score how do you do that? And the ones that constantly demanded to know what the score was were the kids..............of both teams. I am disgusted with the neutering of children, when we teach them that effort and excellence have no place in America..........oh until they grow up and get slapped in the ass with reality that is.
Good, Harrison is raising his sons right. That’ll be two less entitled brats walking around filled to the brim with unearned self-esteem.
And I bet the vast majority of those hypersensitive cupcakes in the SJW movement received meaningless trophies and accolades like these when they were growing up.
We had a similar experience.
Our youngest son (~5-yrs) played T-ball and was thrilled to get a trophy at the end of his first season. His team was actually pretty good, all things considered.
Our oldest son (~8-yrs), who played in the pitching machine league that same year, also received a trophy and was completely mystified, noting that “We were really rotten.”
BTW—Those kids kept score even when the adults tried not to.
Ha these are the sane helicopter parents that will punch an umpire for calling their golden child out or put pressure on the school to fire a coach for not playing the kid
It’s the patents that come up with all this crap.
Got to make sure kids have snacks and treats for playing a game for a hour or two. Unreal..
My kid played T-ball. The idiots at the league wanted to allow a kid who got tagged out to still run the bases. I gathered all the league coaches together and we collectively decided that rule was to be ignored.
Last week I made a (IMO) mildly critical comment regarding the public school system. My 73 yo retired teacher neighbor went postal on me. Yelling and carrying on. She said that anything I say against the school system is a personal affront to her. I said it wasn’t, she shouted, yes it was and stormed out.
BTW, it also irks her that our 31 yo daughter was homeschooled, went to college on scholarship, has a good job and is self sufficient. Which I point out when I get the opportunity. Cause I’m mean.
As well as elementary school and middle school. It’s pathetic. Even worse that so many parents think it is a good idea.
It’s all about the image to install in people minds.
Trophy just for showing up = government welfare and other benefits just because you’re alive and here.
