Cayenne pepper...is a flavor intensifier

Well, that's a different deal, it stimulates/irritates the taste buds and makes them more perceptive to the other flavors.

Black pepper does this too, but it also has a flavor. Cajun sauce, jalapeno sauces and juice, Sriracha and Jamaican Jerk sauce all have distinct flavors and heat.

Regarding that last one, the habernero has a distinct flavor as well, but you gotta be damn careful or you can ruin a dish.

Best way to eat Habaneros...aluminum foil on grill...oil on the pepper...slice into the pepper to help it collapse...when slight burn marks form on them, put right on the grill for a few mins...great for garnish or eating a few bites...I only have 1 plant this year and the peppers are huge and get orange quickly...my two teen boys are getting raised right...chilliheads.

I've found that if it's not a spicy dish and the cayenne gives it even a hint of hotness I've used too much, but a tiny bit really brings it to life.
