Wikipedia is known for inaccuracies and not being trustworthy.

Wikipedia can be instantly corrected by experts so most inaccuracies on topics of great interest are not going to last. The articles I linked were heavy footnoted with specific references, unlike your article. Wikipedia is up to date, unlike your article which discusses unproved claims that were published back in the 80's and 90's. Rense.com is certainly not known for being trustworthy.

There were thousands of tons of ordinance being loaded onto the ships at Port Chicago. The Hiroshima bomb had a yield of 15 kt. These numbers are in the same ballpark.

No, read the article.

Estimates of the TNT equivalent of Port Chicago are in the low thousands of tons. So the explosive power at Hiroshima was less than 10 times as great. In other words Port Chicago was an incredibly large, though non-nuclear explosion. By the way, given the figures on the Tianjin explosion, it appears that Port Chicago may have been about 100 times larger.

It only takes a few in the know to lie and create a coverup, you should know that. I didn't create this theory. I mention it as something worth considering.

I considered it and don't find it plausible. One main reason is that the figures given for U-235 production go against everything else I have ever read about the readiness of the technology for producing it. If you can find original declassified documents proving the figures given in the article, I would be very interested to read them.

Actually it would have taken many thousands of people to lie in order to cover this up. Just to cover up the radiation released by an atomic bomb in an American port would involve a gigantic conspiracy involving scientists, politicians, many doctors, and the military. Then there is the fact that none of the scientists or other workers on the Manhattan project ever said a word about this in their entire lives even though very many of them would have had to know about it. Basically all published histories of the Manhattan project would have had to be falsified.

I'll make a few observations, and then I'm done with this discussion. I said I don't know what to believe, but there are inconsistencies with the historical story. I just thought it needed discussion even though it seemed improbable.

However, I stand by my statement that it takes only a few to create a lie, and not necessarily thousands. Many of the scientists and workers on the Manhattan Project were not privy to much more than their singular activities. It was all shrouded in secrecy. To claim that thousands were in on a lie is disingenuous; it wouldn't be so.

Lies from our government are continually being exposed. They lie because they claim it is in the interest of national security. But it is still lies. For instance, a lot of military land was turned over to cities in the SF Bay Area, including Treasure Island on SF Bay. My dad was military before his passing in the early 1970s. I spent a lot of time at bases around the SF Bay Area, including Treasure Island. The military said the land was safe, and had been cleaned up of toxics. So San Francisco began building low-income housing there. But soon discovered the ground was toxic with high levels of radioactivity! Oops, the government had always denied there was ever any radioactive materials there. Sections of Treasure Island are now off limits for housing (to this day) as they try to clean up the mess. It turns out that naval ships and personnel had undergone radioactive detox there for decades, and materials were dumped there. Makes one wonder, as Port Chicago is not far away. Government explanations are that it was cleanup from Pacific A-bomb tests. Does it make sense to cleanup in a highly populated port and not a remote island in the Pacific?

Additionally, the area around Port Chicago has one of the highest incidences of cancer in the nation. Government says its naturally occurring ground radiation. Okay... (you can have the last word, I'm done)
