Yep, the cream of the crop. It’s the same with embassy duty. You got to be a squared away Marine to get those gigs.
My brother was offered embassy duty in the Air Force if he’d re-up. When he turned that down they mentioned him being SOD Melvin Laird’s traveling security. He actually told his superior he was afraid he might shoot the s.o.b. They didn’t think that was funny but they knew he wasn’t going to re-up either.
