Probably not malicious, but it’s quite self absorbed to not consider what his comment could have done to that teacher. Would you want the community saying your wife slept with a student? People usually assume there is at least a nugget of truth in any story. She could have lost her income or even faced a criminal investigation, costing her thousands in legal fees (Union doesn’t provide any assistance with criminal charges).

Would it just be innocent poor judgement if a girl said it about a young male teacher? His life would be ruined.

I get a bit worked up because I’m close to someone who had a child lie in revenge (not about anything sexual!!) and it gave a liberal administrator a tiny bit of ammo to go after him (conservative teacher). It really strains a family to have to go through an unjust situation.
