If she had the disk drives replaced with brand-spanking-new ones, she will be toast. The FBI will know no data had ever been stored on those drives.
Her best bet would be handing over the real disks after having had a true pro do a thorough wipe (which she has already admitted to doing) and hoping nothing incriminating is recoverable.
But virgin drives? That's simply an admission of guilt.
