“Maybe you can enlighten me if you know of any department cut from the federal government in the last 50 years by anybody, including Reagan?”
Department of War
Interstate Commerce Commission.
Department of Tea Tasters
:-)
The War Department technically went away but it was reorganized into the Department of Defense in 1949 and if anything, it is bigger than it was. The functions of the ICC were moved to the Surface Transportation Board which was created for that purpose in 1996, the same year the ICC was abolished. It technically went away but in reality it appears it was just renamed, kind of like the War Department. The point is that none of these feral gubmint departments really go away.
