In recent years the government has gone to extremes to bully everyday Americans and whistleblowers from speaking out against corruption. From the targeting of Tea Party groups and conservative donors to the lawsuits against poverty nuns over birth control the government has harassed and abused its citizenry.
In June investigative journalist James O’Keefe was detained by U.S. customs agents after arriving at the airport in Nassau, Bahamas en route to Miami. The agents told him then he was being detained for crossing back and forth across the US-Mexico border in Texas dressed like Osama bin Laden.
Customs agents targeted O’Keffe because Project Veritas embarrassed them with past videos, exposing government corruption and extreme incompetence.
On July 14, 2015, James O’Keefe was once again harassed and detained by US Customs after returning to the US from Canada. This time agents detained James for over an hour. The US agents told O’Keefe he was targeted because of his journalism. And they even asked him about his support for Donald Trump.
The federal website described James as an “amateur reporter engaged in publicity stunts.” O’Keefe now has confirmation that they are actually looking at a screen that tells them the journalism that Project Veritas has reported and shows that they are retaliating against him.
James has repeatedly embarrassed US Customs. In response, they are now going after him.
This time in Montreal James recorded the encounter to prove the harassment and abuse:
“ US Customs Agent: So you’re a reporter for who?
James O’Keefe: I started my own media company. It’s called Project Veritas and we do sort of investigative documentary films exposing hypocrisy and corruption.
US Customs Officer Ms. Blaire-Bechstead: Within the government, within big corporate companies?
James O’Keefe: Mostly within the government, actually.
US Customs Officer Blaire-Bechstead: So how long have you had your own media company?
James was even asked about how Project Veritas makes money:
“ US Customs: Do you make money off the YouTube hits or…?
James O’Keefe: We’re a non-profit charitable foundation.
US Customs: So you don’t have ads on your YouTube hits at all?
James O’Keefe: Not yet. I’m thinking about putting them on there.
That’s when the conversation turned to presidential politics. James says he as so flabbergasted by the question that he couldn’t even form a coherent response.
“ Customs Officer Mr. Creelman: Would you really support Trump as a nominee?
James O’Keefe: I cant, I can’t even…
Officer Creelman: Who do you want it to be?
James O’Keefe: I don’t really endorse politicians, for, you know, anything.
Finally a supervisor came and let James go – after more than an hour of being detained and questioned.
James reported that the government officials were actually looking at a screen that told them about the news items Project Veritas has released. They are targeting him because of the scandal he has exposed. James O’keefe hopes this video will ignite a new movement of citizen journalists who will boldly stand up and say, “enough is enough!”

Insert “Gestapo” or “SS-SD” instead of CPB, “Germany and Occupied Europe” instead of “port of entry” and “Jews and Romany” instead of O’Keefe and read your statement again.

Jim is perfectly capable of answering for himself.
We are basically a modern high tech American version of the USSR now. People engages in peaceful word based dissent are targeted for law enforcement attention solely because of words they say.
This is a radioactive line for government. And ours is solidly across it.

Those questions didn’t come out of thin air. His file has been flagged and obviously contains some sort of brief about his political activities so that any and every Customs agent will know about it when they pull up his file. They apparently take that as a cause to harass him. However ‘gentle’ their harassment might be that’s a very chilling message they’re sending.
Some months ago, I read “Mao, The Untold Story”, about Mao from before his birth to his death. Unvarnished. Very enlightening about ungodly, evil dictators.
Then just finished “Red Notice” about Bill Brodwers investments in the Russian Stock Market, and Putin’s attacks against him and his folks, about 1996 to 2014. (Obama and Kerry are mentioned.)
Sitting on the table is “The Harvest of Sorrow” by Robert Conquest. Soviet Union in the 1930’s I think.
My point is this is nothing new. Evil (satan) from the time of Eden to today. Nothing has changed (except a brief 200 year period of Exceptionalism).
They didn’t beat him at all. But if they had wanted to make an example of him they would have. Again, I don’t agree with the kid being on some kind of list or being asked these questions. But it could have gone a lot worse.
When I was in my early twenties I had the misfortune of being on the receiving end of some local police who were stepping way over bounds in their questioning me, accusing me of all sorts of things because I was (according to them) in the wrong place at the wrong time. They did not do it nicely. Their behavior was really over the top and kind of scary for a kid. But I kept calm, was respectful, and walked away from the incident without any kind of record. But it could of easily gone the other way because they were provoking me.
This kid was not provoked. Just asked a lot of inappropriate questions because he was on the Feds little red list.
Sounds like they consider Trump the enemy.
I am aghast.
And as long as they’re civil and somewhat polite, you’re okay with that?
I don’t like it either. But then, I don’t even like being asked my zip code when I go to check out at a local retail store. I just lie because its none of their business. I used to give the cashiers hell for asking, but stopped because of the glazed look in their eyes. Just a waste of time anyway.
But look, every phone call and message board is monitored by the Alphabet Soup agencies. Donald Trump doesn’t use a cell phone for a reason.
You know I didn’t say that.
Say to whom? Congress? The President?
When the object of your anger is the government, how will you fight it?
Rifles?
If retail stores could put you in prison or shoot you from a drone I might put them in the same category of concern.
