There was a lot of asbestos on ships for fireproofing.

Asbestos plus smoking is an extreme negative synergy for lung cancer.

Back when I worked on vehicle brake design, a really smart engineer always told our mechanics it was deadly to smoke and breath brake dust.

It’s liver, not lung.

My old man worked as a Technical Director with GE working the turbine decks of many power stations. He described the asbestos lagging from the steam turbines as hanging in the air like snow whenever they had a maintenance shutdown and had a turbine all ripped apart.

He often said, "If asbestos dust gives you cancer, you're looking at a dead man."

He is in his mid 70s. Doing well so far.
