The Dad Who Won Landmark Supreme Court Gun Case Proposes 6-Step Solution to End Gun Violence

So, I propose the following 6-step solution, which will likely displease both gun-rights and anti-gun folks alike.

There needs to be a Federal database of all guns and gun owners. 7-day waiting period before a gun is purchased and background checks on every purchase. Elimination of unregulated gun selling / trading events. Every gun sold needs to be in the Federal registry. There should be a set standard for gun ownership. Currently, it is left in the discretion of local authorities who sometimes error incorrectly either way. If you have committed an aggravated felony you can’t have a gun. If you have mental health issues you get a hearing to determine your status. If you don’t fall into those categories, you can’t be denied a gun. Let’s do as the Israelis do. Currently, here in the USA, most sports arenas have searches on the way in. That needs to be effectuated on any public place where there are crowds. In Israel, you can’t enter a movie theater, bar, mall, etc., without bags being searched and wanded by a metal / bomb detector. Most gun crimes are committed by repeat offenders. There needs to be mandatory minimum jail sentences for any crime committed with a gun. Sell drugs while carrying a gun and get 10 years in prison – do it again, get 20 years. We need to let the bad guys know, gun crime gets you real time.

That is a pro-gun, reasonable gun control law, anti-violence, and pro-constitution solution. If both sides would actually get out of our ideological trenches we could make that happen. This article has inspired me to send my 6-step method to my Congressmen and Senators from New Jersey – while not holding my breath, waiting for a positive response.

I propose federal press control. There are too many people out there publishing and broadcasting ideas I don’t like. This creates fear in me and damages my freedom to feel good. I propose a special Court of Hurt Feelings where I can file against anyone who says or thinks anything that upsets me. In fact, I demand it!

There should be a federal register of illegal aliens. Communists need to be registered also.

This guy needs a remedial reading course and lessons on not reading things into the Constitution.

The reason there are so many murders is people not abiding by existing laws so adding more laws just turns law abiding people into a new class of criminals.

> Yeah, that federal data base should work out real swell. Idiot. Reasonable my butt.

yeah we remember how well that Do NOT Call Registry worked out. I think fedgov sold it to marketing companies because the number of phone calls that I receive from marketers increased exponentionally afterwards.

It does NOTHING to keep criminals away from illegally obtained guns, so what's the point exactly?

Dear Matt Sweetwood,
Request denied.

And please get a virulent and particularly painful, lingering pancreatic cancer.

Stopped reading right there. No sense in going on, really.

Failure to respond earns you a “hostile personality” rating?

I like the one step solution better, repeal all gun laws back to the constitution.

Yep, or even failing to respond correctly. Get pulled over by a cop and he asks, “are you upset” and you say “yes, I am” and wind up cuffed and stuffed and your guns are gone forever.

I’ve read the whole article and I guess I didn’t see a solution to end gun violence. Did I miss it?

I suppose if you live in a slave state like New Jersey, a peasant being allowed to own a firearm at all is sweet liberty.
But don’t come preaching your slave talk here to free men, Sweetwood.

Weird how that works. Of course if you tell the cop you aren’t upset, with his background in psych assessment, he determines you must be wacko because everybody that gets pulled over HAS TO BE upset. Unless you know you were in the wrong and fully accept responsibility. Which also makes you suspect ‘cause nobody accepts responsibility. :>}

Gun control doesn’t work. They’ve been trying since guns were invented.

It was subliminal. Basically, when reading between the lines, it said all criminals would cease all criminal activity upon implementation of the plan. Can’t believe you didn’t spot it. :>}
