I’ve always thought that Obama’s excuse for gun control could be turned on the left for immigration. If building a border wall could save just one life, then we have a responsibility to build it. Perhaps making reference to Kate Steinle in that last sentence.
I’m pleased to see him using his 2008 US Supreme Court win in the Medellín v. Texas case to call on states to impose sanctions on Iran without the federal government.
What at a glance looked like a simple death penalty of a foreign national (illegal) was actually a major fight over state and national sovereignty vs the international community.

in 2013, Michigan passed the Iran sanctions act preventing economic cooperation between Michigan and Iran. The feds can’t do squat to prevent it.
