From the “Little House” to the Congress? It could happen for Livingston County resident Melissa Gilbert.
Gilbert, star of the hit 1970s television series, “Little House on the Prairie” on Monday announced she would run as a Democrat for the 8th District Congressional seat in next year’s election.
The news thrilled area Democrats.
“I think it’s very, very exciting news,” said county party chairwoman Judy Daubenmier,
“We worked with her on the Schauer campaign (for governor) and, I can tell you, she’s a real trooper. She’ll be a very effective campaigner.”

[ Melissa Gilbert has always been a flaming liberal..she has tweeted many times how she wants to ban guns so this is nothing new. The only Conservative on Little House was Melissa Francis who played Cassandra Cooper(She is on the Fox Business Network) ]
The funny thing was she was married to Bruce Boxenleitner who is apparently a conservative and was good friends with Jerry Doyle.
That will hurt her badly in Michigan. She might be able to get away with it in the Dingell district but not where she is.
Michael Landon gave us Little House and Highway to Heaven, and his last series US was also going to be great.
All of his shows were wonderful, certainly Little House was a Christian program
Some of the episodes of Highway to Heaven allowed for some of his liberal views to come through (yes I have seen them all)
I am not all that sure of his exact beliefs, he was raised apparently in a mixed Jewish Christian home, I guess he had some liberal views, certainly you did not know that watching Little House, but you could see some of his struggles in a few of his Highway to Heaven episodes, as he let some of his views slip in
But what a legacy he left in Little House and Highway to Heaven
I hope he was a Christian
God Bless him for the great programs he left us, I pray he Knew The Lord, how could a guy that made such programming not be, many of the episodes he wrote

What a PC lightweight Melissa Gilbert is! No mention in her statement about "saving the environment" or "helping the children".
Perhaps all that will be included in a future statement.
They show Little House all the time on TV..in fact before I saw this news I was actually watching the show. I still enjoy it even after all these years, to me it was a more on the Conservative side which I liked. You wouldn’t see that kind of programming today that’s for sure
She needs to go back to California, and get the heck out of my STATE..

Yep little House is on in my household every day, Hallmark and Inspiration show it every day, you could watch about 6 episodes every day at a minimum.
I never thought she was pretty, but I don’t know; let’s ask Trump to describe her.
I thought she was dead.
