This has protectionism written all over it. Mexico is our second-leading export market. China is our second-biggest trading partner. A 35-percent tariff, which Trump has hinted at in the past, would be a gigantic tax hike, setting off a global trade war and doing incalculable damage to our economy. We don’t need another Smoot-Hawley. Trump should have been asked about this by the debate moderators. Unfortunately, the subject of trade never came up.

The Federal Reserves disastrous monetary policy caused the Great Depression. The Feds policies resulted in a 1/3 contraction of the money supply between 1929-32.

Second FDR and his Keynesian/Marxist cabal exacerbated and prolonged the great depression.

The Great Depression ended with Roosevelt’s' death.

If FDR followed President Harding's policies the depression would have been over in about 18 months. BTW, marxist liberals rate Harding near the bottom of Presidential rankings (because he took a knife to government spending to cure the Greater Depression he handled.)
