Unless the EPA is disbanded

I was once very interested in disbanding the EPA, or repealing the "EPA law". I even went to the point of having a crack at drafting legislation.

But, it's not so simple.

The "EPA" was not created by Congress, and, should it cease to exist, the laws it is charged with enforcing would still be on the books. Those laws, passed by Congress and signed by four Presidents between 1955 and 1970, grant legislative authority to the President and command that he "end pollution in all waters of the United States", etc, etc.

The EPA problem exists because those laws exist. It's the laws that are unreasonable, not the particular executive mechanism for seeing that they are enforced.

Now, it's true that grants of legislative authority to unaccountable bureaucrats + a President who hates America causes big problems.

But, the EPA was created to SIMPLIFY enforcement of laws that previously required environazis at Agriculture, Interior, Justice, Health, Education, and Welfare, Commerce, Labor, and many other entities within the Executive Branch.

End the EPA and leave the laws that made it necessary in place, and you will simply multiply the bureaucracy twenty-fold.

Those are much ‘law’ as the ‘gun control act of ‘XX’ is ‘law’, or the new ‘treaty authority’, or ...

Course, I guess, when your bread is buttered by the same pool of ill gotten gains (taxpayers), you’re less than NOT willing to rock the boat on unconstitutional acts.

Horse feathers. EPA is the result of a creation by Congress and Congress can fix it if they had the will and were not always busy feathering their own nest. Saying it can’t be fixed is just passing the buck.

EPA has interpreted well beyond the law in any way they deem appropriate or necessary to some purpose. It is just like the rest of the government; corrupt and perverted from the original intention and simplicity. The tax code was a simple law when it started and now my tax return is nearly 70 pages! Nothing the government does doesn’t expand because a bunch of pettifogging lawyers get started trying to legislate or codify morality and common sense. Congress provides unlimited funds for unlimited mischief. Cut the funds and you cut the mischief. The more people you have the more crap they dream up to do and they will do something even if it is wrong or just plain stupid to hold on to their little phony baloney jobs.

Congress has written a bunch of junk, compromised, open ended, lobbyist satisfying laws and left it to the bureaucrats to interpret them and given them police powers to enforce.

Regulating mud puddles and ditches is just one of many over steps the EPA has taken. There may be a law to end pollution but it was a stupid law and should be reversed. The only way to END POLLUTION is for everybody to DIE and quit using resources. That is what some have in mind so long a the ruling elite aren’t the ones who are vacated.

You stuck your hand in the meat grinder pal. All politicians are all hat and not cattle.

Sounds like the EPA has a fail safe system going on there. In the respect that they have a buffer of laws to keep them doing their gest to destroy the environment.

It's been my contention for years that the EPA is responsible for much of the destruction of the environment.

Seems similar to the global warming "religionists" (it's definitely a belief system that requires "faith") tampering with the temperature measuring systems around the world (moving the dial a bit) to make it seem that the planet is doomed because of "climate change."

With that moniker, it seems like they want to have the same climate every day of forever.

Defund the EPA however it needs to be done, it ain't gonna be easy but it and many other government alphabet agencies are completely barred from existing via the Constitution.

Thanks for you well thought out comments.

I hadn't realized how strongly the EPA has protected ITSELF first and foremost, screw the environment!

I'm gonna go make myself a spotted owl omelet.
