Comic legend Jackie Mason satirized the tendency of the news media, opinion makers and the general public to focus more on the delivery and presentation of remarks than on the actual policies presented at presidential debates. If these debates were held fifty years ago, Groucho Marx would have been the president, Mason quipped during a radio interview Sunday.

He’s right, as always.
These debates are a joke, the Democrats are laughing at all of them.
Been that way for a long time. Never a “debate”. Not even a discussion. A Q&A circus dominated completely my the MSM ringmasters.
If it was me, I would treat these debates like a “job interview” and not get into personal questions or attacks.
The Donald Trump Roasts....
But at least debate #1 was more of what should have taken place in debate #2.
The GOP/MSM are not happy Trump KO'd their lapdog.
All that was missing was Don Rickles.
IMHO, the whole damn political process is a comical freakshow. If it wasn’t, clowns like Obonzo and Mrs. Slick Willie wouldn’t stand a chance of ever being elected.
As for the Republican aspect, I say , Amen. And they will continue to be as long as the Republicans allow the Democrats, a/k/a mainstream news media to moderate their discussions. They are not debates.
Holy cow. Jackie Mason is still alive?
Waiting for after the first dem debate and all the, “dem debates were a comedy contest” posts.
I won’t hold my breath. Because all we’ll hear then is how serious and effective the dem candidates are and how hard they will be to beat.
Disgusted.
Great cartoon. Art imitates life.
The RNC debate was a political gotcha game show, with Kelly playing Nancy Grace role, hosted by the GOP’s lapdog the MSM
Instead of debate, it was inquisition turned commedy which backfired in their corrupt faces.
It was like a high school production.
If it were you, you would have spoken eight words, misused half of them and mispronounced the other half and then started drooling.
Let's try to be honest.. you aren't terribly bright.
It’s hummergunner and his spelling/grammar clever quips. All meant to interrupt that thread.
Mr. hummergunner is critiquing and grading every comment.
Watch it!
Just a gentle reminder that post number 17 is from a TROLL and the RESPONSE is NO RESPONSE. Please DO NOT FEED the TROLL. Thank-you! :)
Some suggestions on a format change for the Republican candidates...
1) Neutral moderators who stay in the background
2) Rather than narrow, often meaningless and stupid questions, that are given to only certain candidates (what a stupid format - cant compare that way with the moderators picking for their own purposes who answers which issue), instead revolve the discussion around four or five generally-agreed top issues of the day: a) big government vs. the Constitution b) the economy c) illegal immigration d) foreign policy e) national security
3) An open discussion of each issue, one issue at a time for a certain time period. Maybe each with brief opening statements on the issue, then opening it up to any and all to participate. This would of course also allow for meaningful open discussion and debate allowing the audience to actually compare and contrast the candidates, instead of these stupid 30-second sound bytes.
You may have to have some sessions that will mirror the 2016 General Election debate format to see how Republican candidates would do against Hillary or whoever the Socialist Democratic Party candidate is.
