UPDATE: During a press conference held at the Harris County Sheriffs Office, Chief Deputy Tim Cannon
stated that the deceased victims were counted as six children and two adults. The victims ranged in age
from six to fifty. Two of the victims were female and six were male. The deceased family members were
identified as: Valerie Jackson, 40; her husband Duane Jackson, 50; and their six children Nathaniel,
Honesty, Duane, Jr., Caleb, Trinity and Jonna. (Spelling of names were not given at this time.) Initial
reports stated there were five children and three adults killed.
During the press conference, it was revealed that there were three calls for a welfare check,
possibly including one call reporting a man with a gun. Cannon responded that the deputies did
not have enough information to make entry into the home until the discovery of the first childs
body. Cannon called the killings a senseless tragedy.
Six children — aged 6, 7, 9, 10, 11 and 13 — and two adults were found dead of gunshot
wounds inside three bedrooms. Two of the kids and one of the adults who died were female. Metal
handcuffs were allegedly used to restrain some of the deceased, authorities said. Some of the
dead had been shot multiple times.
Conley reportedly had a prior relationship with Valerie Jackson, 40, one of the deceased, according
to Sgt. Craig Clopton. Clopton said at least one of the children found dead in the house was likely
fathered by Conley.
Thank you.
You are so out to lunch on this issue. The kids watching their dad beat up their mom twice weekly is not about putting romance on hold. We have a domestic violence website here that has a quickie escape key so that women looking at it can quickly exit if they need to. You are so incredibly wrong.
Now, let’s see.....I’m confused here:
He KILLED 8 PEOPLE and then I read this statement “has been charged with three counts of capital murder.”
WTF? How about the other 5?
I guess maybe the dog got the pistol and shot the others.
How STUPID can the police be? 3 counts???????????????
There were multiple murders included in one count and one count was for the child six or under.
Or that is what I’ve read on some reports.
The worthless SOB will probably be one hell of a lot older before he is sent to meet his maker.
A Batman t-shirt & another serial killers fixation with comic book characters
Hope you didn’t pull anything with that helluva stretch. It’s a shirt you fool.
I think DinW is correct in pointing out that a series of mother’s boyfriends in a household is a recipe for disaster. The statistics confirm this, and the reality behind those statistics is worse still. It also leads - routinely - to early sexual activity for the girls of the family, and they are socialised into it, they don’t have much choice about that.
Awful. I would be interested to see the documentary. Leaving an abusive relationship is about the most dangerous thing a woman can do. It would be good to have people more aware of the early warning signs in a prospective partner. But I suppose that it is all very good during the first part of the relationship, and then once she is committed to him, and possibly with children, then she starts being treated like a prisoner.
I have yet to figure out how to post a link on my Xoom but I am sure you can find it with Google.
The TED talk is by Leslie Morgan Steiner who got her undergrad degree at Harvard, and is called “Why domestic violence victims don’t leave”.
I was trying to learn about domestic violence after my coworker was killed.
She had a graduate degree in a complex science and was an intelligent fun
charismatic person with four terrific kids from 3-15. Well known and liked in the community, began a soccer league, was voted mother of the year or something in some local contest.
Of course a series of boyfriends is not great but it was not that which caused the murders. It was leaving the boyfriend who killed them all.
USA today had a post saying the murders were prompted by her changing the locks. Domestic violence.
