Royal Dutch Shell Cuts Ties With Alec Over Rightwing Group's Climate Denial

Shell joins BP in corporate exodus from membership of the conservative, free-market lobbying group, which continues to deny the science of climate change

Royal Dutch Shell have announced they will end their membership of the far-right American Legislative Exchange Council (Alec) because of its continuing denial of the science of climate change.

In a statement released on Friday, a Shell spokesman said: “Alec advocates for specific economic growth initiatives, but its stance on climate change is clearly inconsistent with our own.”

Shell joins fellow oil major BP in a corporate exodus from the conservative, free-market lobby group. Shell’s decision comes after sustained pressure from campaign groups, in particular the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS), for Shell to stop funding Alec. The group’s position statement on climate change calls it an “historical phenomenon”.

“The debate will continue on the significance of natural and anthropogenic contributions,” it reads. Alec has lead an assault on renewable energy that observers are concerned could significantly hamper the industry.

So they are cutting their ties with one of the few groups who doesn’t say they are destroying the planet?

Did I get that?

The corporate statists have and will continue to make billions in taxpayer subsidies for their "green energy " programs.

They will not bite the hand that feeds them our money.

What that means is that they have made a deal with the politicians - cronyism at its best. They’ll be left alone if they play the game.

If Shell REALLY believed in "climate change" garbage, they wouldn't be looking for oil, now would they?

That would make them hypocrites.

Royal Dutch Shell Cuts Ties With Alec Over Rightwing Group's Climate Denial.
What a horribly organized article.

Who's on First?

First the global warming fraudsters change their name to "climate change."
Then they manipulate centuries-long data to plug into "climate models" programmed to get the answers they want.
Then they call it Science."

Of course real scientists deny the manufactured crisis and the fraudsters yell Deniers!

Meanwhile, the real scientists present actual measurements refuting the falsified data of the doomsters "we'll all be gone in 87 years!!"

Bottom line, hundreds of billions$ disappear into the black hole created by all the smoke and mirrors.

And the taxpayer and the middle class gets the double whammy of artificially high prices, for both the absurdly inefficient "alternative energy, and for the skyrocketing" prices that the Obummer promised for the most efficient energy there is, due to regulations and endless purposeless studies and reports.

Where have all the billions gone?

Everybody is a denier, and it seems like there's enough jail time to go around.

I've always said environmentalists are the best thing to happen to energy companies.

Name one other industry that publicly advertises to their customers to reduce their consumption of their product... Lower consumption = lower production needed = higher customer fees per unit provided.

It's one thing to support the junk science anthropogenic global warming hoax, it's quite another to align yourself with those who want to destroy your livlihood to the detriment of all civilization.
Remarkable.

They know that if liberals tighten the energy market, the big corporations win. Right now, the price of oil is plummeting due to the free market (a good thing). Liberalism is wonderful for big corporations.
