Our founding fathers were FOR free and fair trade. What they were against was the one sided trade IIMPOSED by the British. That was NOT negotiated trade.
Conservatism has NOT abandoned anybody. Trade HAS created and continues to create jobs, not just take jobs. Of course trade agreements need to be fair, balanced and have enforceable penalties with teeth. No country can exist without trade. Trade is not just physical goods. It’s also intellectual property like software and services, where the US actually has a surplus.
You keep ranting like some far left lunatic from the far left unions. That is not conservatism. How much do you think your cell phone for example would cost if it were made here with all its parts made here?

The founding fathers weren't free traders. They threw off the tariff from Britain and immediately implemented their own.

Besides what we are doing is not trading. We're buying their goods, and they aren't buying ours. We're liquidating our country to buy their goods, because they use the funds to buy our companies and dismantle them and ship them to China.

I'd rather pay a higher price for a cell phone and have Americans working than to pay a low price for the phone and have the nation sinking in debt from all the unemployed Americans.

We are on the same path as Greece. They ran high trade deficits for years. At least until unemployement went sky high, then the trade deficit came crashing down, because they could no longer afford the cheap imports. Now they have high unemployment and can't afford anything and can't pay their debts.
