Use my cars blue tooth for calls. Before that answered with speaker phone and pulled over to dial (before Siri). But texting while driving is just wrong. The guy who plowed into my new explorer that was stopped at a light was probably texting. My wife spent the night in the hospital. The cop refused to question the guy about whether he was texting once he determined he was sober. I showed up and demanded the cop check the guy for booze. I almost got arrested. Later the cop showed up at the hospital and was nice but said the guy was sober but otherwise distracted.

That reaction from the officer would seem to indicate that the offending driver is a friend of his, or maybe his son’s boss.

Get a lawyer and do what you need to do for a subpeona for both the phone and his phone company’s records. Unless he was just typing a text message without sending it the phone company will know. And the phone itself might have useful info on it unless he does the Full Hillary on it and gets a new phone.
