National Guard authorities in Hattiesburg said a shooter fired into the air near soldiers training at Camp Shelby on Wednesday morning
It was in the same area where soldiers reported gunshots fired from a pickup truck a day earlier.
The description of the shooter was the same in both instances, Patterson said: a white male in a red pickup truck

If the truck just backfired, then he should probably seek revenge for all this.
It used to be easy to make a vehicle backfire but it could blow out mufflers. I don’t know if modern computer-controlled engines can.
Yes it used to be easy. You would turn off the ignition, and let it coast for a few seconds still in gear.
When you turned the ignition back on, it would backfire really loud. Oh, and yes it was rough on mufflers.
or maybe a new truck.
My brother could make his older car backfire. He would turn the key off and then on again while we were driving down the road. I believe the ignition would cause the exhaust gasses to ignite inside the muffler.
