CANTON, Ga. A Georgia elementary school launched a new program for upcoming school year that will rely on older students who just learned English to help teach younger students the language.
Approximately 42 percent of our students are served in our program for English as a second language, Canton Elementary School Principal Beth Long told WSBTV.
That means about 336 of the schools 800 students must learn how to speak, write and read English fluently, a process school officials contend takes five to seven years.

The news story provided omitted all details on the schools new program, including the cost. But Canton isnt the only elementary school relying on special programs to cope with an increase in ESL students.
At Warren Elementary in Bowling Green, Kentucky, students from numerous schools spent the summer working on their English for the 2015-16 school year, according to the Bowling Green Daily News.
The program was free for the roughly 70 fourth through seventh graders who participated in the daily lessons. Those kids received free breakfast and lunch throughout the summer.

GA has a huge poultry industry with lots of Hispanic employees. Canton has two-three LARGE poultry processing plants.
I happened to be at a talk by the GA Ag Commissioner recently. 40% of all U.S. poultry exports leave the port of Savannah, and half of those are Georgia-raised.
You have no idea. These cockroaches are ruining our state and many others. Its insane that we allow a stupid SCOTUS ruling to force us to enroll illegal alien’s kids in our schools. Most whites who can afford it just send their kids to private school.
:-)
Front row view of the displacement of Americans. I own a useless house in the area. It happened in a blink.
Tell me about it. We will be lucky to break even when we move hopefully soon. We have a whole houseful of illegals renting the house next door. It looks like a one lot Ghetto.
I think maybe paid for by local taxpayer’s real estate tax or however local schools are funded.

It must take a LOT longer than that considering the number of native born citizens who speak English as a FIRST language and hold university degrees but still don’t speak or write the language correctly.
