I was thinking the same thing. It's the outer edges of the left and right that it needs to be sold to.
GOPe voters already have their minds made up at least in the primary.
Democrats almost always vote democrat.
President Reagan got elected, twice, on a large dim crossover. The right guy with a positive message about America can do this.
All the weenie candidates hiding behind PC wording in their statements can't do this.
