It seems odd to me that a local issue in a foreign contry has gotten so much attention here.

The lion was a well-known tourist attraction & evidently tolerated humans taking pics, etc. ..... and PETA is all over it, too so of course the lion is being considered the equal of a human being (other than those unborn humans in the womb). The lion was also “beheaded” (horror of horrors ... just like ISIS does to people except the lion was already dead). This is called “caping” where a trophy animal is skinned out for taxidermy, but of course PETA is absolutely hysterical about it.
The dentist who killed Cecil might as well assume a new identity & immigrate to a remote corner of the world - he’ll be hounded by PETA & the animal rights/anti-hunters the rest of his life. He’s ruined.
Also, the lion was named Cecil, which I can only guess refers to Cecil Rhodes, the terrible white guy who set up the country that was actually successfull until it became Zimbabwe.
