Noted Maverick Mark Cuban is a fan of Donald Trump's presidential candidacy. And, writing on something called Cyber Dust, Cuban succinctly and effectively explained the Trumpian appeal. Here it is:
I don't care what his actual positions are. I don't care if he says the wrong thing. He says what's on his mind. He gives honest answers rather than prepared answers. This is more important than anything any candidate has done in years.
That's a remarkable admission. "I don't care what his actual positions are," Cuban said. "I don't care if he says the wrong thing." And, it affirms my working theory that lots and lots of people who say they are for Trump don't know the first thing about where he stands on any issue this side of immigration. His is not a policy appeal or even really a political one. It's pure personality.
In a world in which lots of people -- Cuban included -- believe that political correctedness has run wild and the outrage police are everywhere, someone who is willing to just say stuff and not back down has real appeal. "This guy isn't afraid of anyone!," you can imagine a Trump supporter saying. "He says whatever he damn well pleases!"
That attraction would explain why Trump has survived (and thrived) in the aftermath of comments about Mexicans and POWs that would have ended or, at least, badly damaged, a more traditional candidate. People, at least if Cuban is to be believed (and I think he is), aren't really listening to the specifics of what Trump is saying. They don't care. All they know is that he is freaking out the squares -- and they L-O-V-E that.

And a good number of people who voted for Reagan didn’t necessarily agree with him on the issues, but they saw the Man’s character and saw that he could Lead.
He nailed it. Trump doesn’t have three speech writers weighing every word or phrase in fear of offending someone.
Don’t tell certain Freepers that...
The really good news is, this nation at this moment is a free country, and we all may support whomever we choose.
To bad Trump didn’t see a man of character in Reagan.
It’s hard to fool conservatives with polls, but it is easy to fool GOPe’s stooges with polls.
The MSM has been offending us for years.... Nice to see someone stand up to them and tell it like it is..
Source?
Or avoiding ALL questions and having an opinion on NOTHING.
I am not saying names, but their initials are Hillary Clinton.
A MAN FOR THE GOOD OF AMERICA
COMMON SENSE, LOOKING FOR THE GOOD, PROTECTING WHAT WORKS! STOPPING THE BULL CORN WAFFLING ON ANY AND ALL ISSUES.
PAYING HIS OWN WAY. NOT BEING AFRAID TO SPEAK AND DO THE RIHGT THING.
AMERICA IS SO POLITICALLY CORRECT WE ARE HAMSTRUNG ON ALL ISSUES small and large. lets STOP!!!
DT cannot compared to RR in any way.
RR served two terms as governor of the nation’s largest state. He would have never been elected POTUS without that record IMHO.
While we could sure use another RR, DT is no RR. DT reminds me more of Ross Perot than RR. Ditto with his followers.
Don’t comparing him to Reagan per se, just making the observation that a good part of the electorate vote for a candidate not based on issues, but on their “likability” or belief that they are a good leader, whether it’s warranted or not.
Don't say such things about Our Churchill, y'hear?
Surely there’s another paragraph or sentence after the last one....
Care to print them too.
Your desperation is showing.
I view it as a fad more than anything else.
DT brings to the table something millions of people crave: entertainment. Millions of people turned off from both parties are no doubt attracted to Trump.
Trump is the ultimate showman-—even more so than RR in some ways. He is the ultimate self promoter. Even though he has billions to spend of his own money, he doesn’t even to do that right now as the media lavishes so much attention on him. The other candidates-—especially the more conservative ones are left in the dust and struggling in obscurity as Trump sucks out all of the oxygen.
Right now the idea of this man who says whatever is on his mind, who speaks without a teleprompter, who is unscripted has enormous amount of appeal right now.
But Trump is his own worst enemy. His mouth is his own worst enemy. He is totally undisciplined in that department. On each and every issue he has been all over the map. He has given more money to the Dems than to the Republicans, including the Clintons. I wouldn’t trust him for a minute.
Yes, he provides great entertainment and interest to the race. Yes he is colorful and interesting to watch. But he also lacks substance, experience, and reliability.
DT is no RR.
Hopefully, he won’t be another Perot handing an election over to another Clinton on a silver platter.
When she doesn't answer a pointed question, they wait for the LSM to propose a PC answer then claim that is her position.
It is still klassic klintoon triangulation. Then, of course, they praise her as "perfect" for having all the right answers.
Like it or not, to win a National election these days, you do have to appeal to a portion of the Low-Info Voter (LIV) demographic. A guy like Mitt Romney had no chance of getting any support there. A guy like Trump can steal a good part of the LIV vote from the Democrats.
