GOP leaders attempt public revenge on Ted Cruz for calling McConnell a liar
Biz Pac Review ^ | July 27, 2015 | Steve Berman

Sparks flew at a rare Sunday session of the Senate as Republican veteran Sen. Orrin Hatch opened the session with a rebuke aimed squarely at an unrepentant Ted Cruz.

The Senate establishment closed ranks against the Texas Republican presidential hopeful for a Senate floor speech Friday that denounced Majority Leader Mitch McConnell as a liar.

The speech was out of line, said Hatch, the Senate’s president pro tempore.

“Squabbling and sanctimony may be tolerated in other venues and perhaps on the campaign trail, but they have no place among colleagues in the United States Senate,” he said.

Cruz did not waver, maintaining that McConnell lied about backroom dealing to revive the Export-Import Bank.

“Speaking the truth about actions is entirely consistent with civility,” he said, defending himself on the Senate floor.

Two votes were taken on Sunday: one to squash a procedural vote to repeal Obamacare; the other to revive the now-expired federal Export-Import Bank.

Both votes were on amendments to a must-pass highway bill. A Senate ruling on Friday killed Cruz’s attempt to offer an amendment to the highway bill to block President Obama’s Iran deal. Another vote Sunday failed to overturn Friday’s ruling.

Besides accusing McConnell of being a liar, Cruz on Friday accused McConnell of operating as a “team” with Minority Leader Sen. Harry Reid, a Nevada Democrat, The Hill reported.

Hatch’s reading of Senate Rule 19 — which prohibits senators from accusing each other of behavior “unworthy” of the Senate — was meant as a warning to Cruz, but the Senate Conservative Fund, an outside political organization, believes it only proves Cruz’s point.

.@OrrinHatch knows @McConnellPress lied about the secret #ExIm deal or he would make a real Rule 19 objection against @tedcruz

And we were called Obama loving America haters for doing so.

Everyone kept harping on how important it was to get the Senate under Republican control, and we were considered trouble makers for trying to make people understand that if that control included McConnell, we would come out the worse for it.

I think we simply had a deeper understanding of what was happening than most people.

Maybe. But only because we refused to blind ourselves to obvious realities in order to follow the herd and ‘feel good’.

Steve, myself and others joke about out 100% predictive record. Anyone could have that success. It’s no harder than looking at reality and concluding the only outcome possible. Divining the outcome of Liberal republicans that tell you they will assist a liberal president does not require supernatural abilities. Only a willingness to take ones head out of their arse.

And FUMEDIA!

Hume, Will and the rest of the POS Fox panel are saying that Cruz called out McConnell in an attempt to “out Trump” Trump and get his poll numbers up so he could get into the debate.

I just saw the Fox Special Report Cruz-Thumpathon. Britt made him out to be a total hypocrite for speaking ill of the Turtle but not of Trump. The panel went on about decorum of the Senate, Charles suggested that Cruz was lying because no other Pubbie senators had verified the exchange with the Turtle. This just confirms what I have been sensing for some time...that Fox is in the bag for Jebbio. Are they trying to drive down his poll numbers? Disgusting display!

I notice for all The BS blizzard, Hatch couldn’t simply say that McConnell didn’t lie. Cruz told the truth. All Hatch could do is whine that it’s mean to expose his lies.
If he can’t do that, nothing he did matters.

Orrin’s “hatch” has been open to the elements for too long.

Once a great Republican congressman, he has now become a scarecrow to be used against real conservatives.

Next stop: Loonieville.

Of course they did! When you can't argue substance, go after style!

If we could only fuse Cruz's payload to Trump's rocket, we might have a chance.

“Squabbling and sanctimony ... have no place among colleagues in the United States Senate,”

That's the problem!!

The entrenched in-group decides everything, even if it is against the will of the people.

Great poster. Sending to all my friends. The guys from Nam will love it.

Reminds me of the old Army joke about basic training.

The Drill Sergeant tells the new recruits about the enemy in that,

“If you shoot him and he doesn’t stop, throw a grenade at him. If that doesn’t work, then bayonet him, and bash his head in.”

“Then, if that doesn’t work, RUN LIKE HELL”.

“we were considered trouble makers for trying to make people understand that if that control included McConnell, we would come out the worse for it. “

Election night in November was one of the top ten depressing nights of my life. I knew it spelled the end of the faux “opposition party”. The Chamber of Commerce now OWNS the party.Lesser evil over 20 years morphed into 100% evil.

There should be a special place in Hell for these bastards. Let us all remember this when these creeps solicit us for donations. If you live in one of their districts, work hard to defeat them, especially McConnell, Boehner, McCain and quite a few others.

Paraphrasing the late great President Ronald Reagan when speaking of his former Democrat Party membership, “I have not left the Republican party. The Republican Party has left me.”

I watched the entire speech which Cruz gave, where he call McConnell a liar. He blasted a LOT of other targets too, all of them worthy.

It is obviously very early in what will be a long and brutal race, but he just jumped ahead of all others on my short list.

Content wise, absolutely the best speech I’ve seen. Freaking LOVED it.

I saw it too. Cruz said he would not go after other Republican CANDIDATES during the run up to the primaries. He said nothing about sitting Senators. This is how the likes of Hume etc are trying to make him look bad. Cruz of course, is 100% right.
